Akai S1000 / S1100 samplers

For the price of a used S1100 I can get a CD3000XL. The only 
advantage of the S1100 seems to be the SMPTE generator. Any comments? 
Plus the MESA functionality with the CD3000XL seems better than the 
S1100. Plus the CD3000XL seems to have more affordable and accessible 
upgrades. If I go with either the S1100 or 3000, I would sell my 
baseline S1000 and keep my S1000PB/ME35T setup. Whadda think?

The only question is whether the sound of the CD3000XL is better than 
the sound of the S1100.  Apparently many people find the S1100 quite 
superior to the other akai samplers, including the S1000, in terms of 
sound.  

I admit though that the CD3000XL seems to be the ultimate workhorse 
sampler.
