Help with S1100 OS update

2006-12-10 by ramseygower

Please help me.
I'm trying to update the OS on my Akai S1100 but seems impossible. The AKAI official
website that has a downloadable version is not working, I've tried on various PC computers
to format disk but the AKAI will not recognise it yet the drive is working with other
floppies.
Does anyone have similar problems? If anyone has a copy I'll be glad to reimburse the cost
for sending it to me.
thanks to you all

The trouble is normally that your PC is too new. I tried 4 computers and got a result in a
W95 equipped laptop which once rebooted in DOS would create the disk required. The
disk is a 1.44 floppy which you shouldn't bother to format as I recall, just run the exe file
you downloaded by copying onto the C: drive in the antique PC. Windows 98SE didn't work
for me, or anything newer.
Top tip: Once you get it working, make 2 or three copies while you're there, and put one in
with your passport or birth certificate, as once you get the new features you won't want to
go back. I have a couple of spares, I'm in London W10 if that would help., Computer Hell is
character building though.

Hi Les, thanks a lot. Received the OS update. It put a
smile on my face ;-)
