Yes, you can boot a new OS which resides on a zip.

You can save the current running version. In the save
screen , scroll to "Type of save", use the date wheel to
scroll to the last "type" which should be the OS. Once you
save that it will save the contents of the current boot
roms.

Hi!

What about burning the actual version into eproms and install them in the S1100?
The last version can be taken from an Australian webpage - you just have to find
someone that burns the eproms for you...

Thanks, but the curent version is 2.0 ..and i want to put
on the latest version 4 (?) ..that's the whole reason for
my question. I want to upgrade to the latest akai system
loading from a zip. That seems impossible without a floppy
isn`t it ? ..thanks for any tips

Check out http://www.epromfoundry.com,  I can customize
your OS4.30 boot rom to display your own personalized name
in the event you really want to pimp out your S1100.

Hey guys www.Route66studios.com has all the AKAI Eproms in stock and it also said that we can turn any Akai SCSI card into a int HD SCSI card. Yep it true.
