hi everybody I just received yesterday a S1100 for free, though it is not powering up. DOes anyone have a suggestion what I have to check, so I can bring this baby back to live? When I tra to switch it on, nothing is happening at all. no light or anything. I hope its only the powersupply. How can I find out what I have to fix or to replace?

If you're not an electronics expert, it is worth asking help to prevent that you destroy your sampler. Open up the sampler on the back / left you find 2 small glass tubes with a small wire in it. These should conduct. You can test that with the resistance meter you find on most digital multimeters. If they dont conduct anymore - replace them with the same type (ampere and speed should be the same). Measure the voltage outputs of the power supply. If you still dont find 5 volt and 12 volt output your power supply board (on the left) is certainly broken and needs repair / replacement. --- In akaiS1000S1100Samplers@yahoogroups.com, "rumschruebler" <rumschruebler@...> wrote:

Thank you Wafwaf I have the problem solved, but dont ask me how. I opened up the sampler, checked the fuses, switched it on and it was working. I guess it was just the powerbutton wich got a bit flimsy. the bigger problem will be nw finding time to work thru the manual. For external storage, is there every Scsi drive working as long I can format it to 60mb max? --- In akaiS1000S1100Samplers@yahoogroups.com, "formals777" <wafwaf@...> wrote: > > If you're not an electronics expert, it is worth asking help to > prevent that you destroy your sampler. > > Open up the sampler > on the back / left you find 2 small glass tubes with a small wire in > it.
