Analogue-sequencer

Well, this is a pretty basic question I guess, but I've only had a few hours
on my new P3, and I'm trying to figure out from the manual how to do
something that should be pretty straightforward - how to change the
controller number on a particular step of a pattern. Changing the value sent
out is easy - but I want to change the controller number.

I'm in edit mode. The upper blue button is selecting 'aux'. I press the func
key plus the step 14 key (for the relevant step in the pattern), and I see
the aux function assign menu which says cc # 0.  But I haven't been able to
figure out how to change it, or how to change to the aux events menu. The
Data knob doesn't seem to do anything, and the page key doesn't seem to
bring up the aux events list.

So, I figure that I'm confused on a very basic point, but I've already spent
more than an hour trying to figure this out, and would appreciate someone
leading me out of my puzzlement.
