sooo... it somehow randomizes these values for aux d for all steps in the
pattern, having different effects (events) for each repetition of the
pattern? i still don't see this business about making sure the track is
unmuted in other parts... will it actually switch parts too???

i guess what i'm asking should go to colin: what things can "events" be?
