Not at all. In fact I'm thinking of writing a user guide at some
point, complete with examples, for all newcomers.

Is this when recording or just using the general thru? I must confess
I don't use the play thru...I would have thought it would not put the
play thru thru thru unless you asked it.

To copy a part, hold the part copy Fn key (F2, I think), and the part
which is the destination for the copy. All just happens magically,
smoothly...
