Something faster than play/edit, F1, play/edit + track 8 ? ;-) That doesn't take you to the same place in edit mode on the new track, but it wouldn't be too much work not to reset the edit mode state. A user config option that defeats the save/lose/back option and just takes you straight back to play mode could make this quicker.
