Arpeggio capture does this. You must be in pattern edit mode to use it. Hold FUNC and press REC - you should see <<ARP>> in the top right of the display. Make sure the 'rong' option is 'off'. Press the 'clr' softkey to reset to step 1. Then just enter notes you want from a midi keyboard. Each note and velocity will write into a step, and it'll move onto the next one. Last step is increased automatically to the length of the pattern you enter. The P:n indicator shows you which will be the next step to be written. You can do this with the sequencer running or stopped. Cheers, Colin f
