Re: [analogue-sequencer] vermona drum module?

2005-11-16 by Miguel Mendoza

Hi,
I'm a new P3 user and first of all I would like to say hello to everybody.

Regarding the drum module, I have the Vermona DRM1 MKII (silver). If you like analog sounds it can be your module, I really like its sound. The bassdrum (3) can sound really fat and even near emulate a TR-808, long decay, distortion and fm can also make really wiard kicks. I only miss the posibility to map the pitch across the keyboard, but I think it's part of the price you pay for a real analog module...

The multi is also very interesting to make strange metallic sounds, zaps, blip, etc... really fun.

The snare, honestly, I preffer the snare of my Jomox XBase 09 (perhaps I prefer this to any other I ever heard) but it's also very flexible sound nice and has its own reverb. I like it.

Cymbal/Hi hats/clap, great, you can emulate 606, 808, 909 and make your own sounds very easy. The sound is very brilliant and fit like butter in the mix.

So, I really recommend it if you are into analog sounds, and like to tweak knobs and you don't mind the memory presets. I also had a Machinedrum which finished on Ebay because to my ears was also very digital.

Think also about Jomox Airbase, it only has a couple of knobs but it sounds very good and has memory presets, you can find one cheap easily.

Cheers!

Miguel

  Hi

I'm looking for an analog drum module to use alongside the P3. Needs to have knobs and sound more fun than the machinedrum (too digi for my ears) I wonder if anyone has any experience with this thing from vermona?
