Analogue-sequencer

i try to sync a mc 202 to the p3?s sync out.
friend of mine soldered me a cable (roland din sync - pin 1,3,5 from a 
midi cable) , as soon as i plug it in the 202,
the internal sequencer stops running ...
are there different types of roland din sync ?
from the manual it looks as if the sync signal is always transmitted 
from p3,
or is there any switch for it ?
