Re: [analogue-sequencer] Longer notes!

2006-12-04 by Eric

Hi,
Please forgive my English but what do you mean with being able to turn lots of steps on/off in parallel? Do you want to be able to push all buttons at the same time (or 10 if you only use your hands..) to enter as many notes?
My idea was that melodies/lines are normally of variable note length. Not only the placing (which of the steps) but also the length make it funky. Also in musical notation (English?:written music), the second thing you learn (after the different heights) is the length of a note or rest. I say this because I think it is an important aspect of making music and would be very handy to vary easily on the P3...
I hope more people agree this would be handy, please let us know. Colin can you please (!) make it an option?

I remember from that way of programming that it was very nice to do beat juggling with samples of a drumloop too!!

Hope it can be done.
Thanks!
Eric

As Paul suggested, note length 13 is the way to make long notes easily.

P3 doesn't work that way because I prefer to be able to turn lots of pattern
steps on or off in parallel.
So holding multiple buttons activates multiple steps, rather than applying
the first note to a series of steps.
I considered making the Mobius-style behaviour optional, but decided that
might be more confusing than helpful.
