I just got my Octopus on Friday, and I¹ve spent the last couple of days alternately in total awe, and stewing in frustration. There is definitely a learning curve there. Paul¹s review really captures the experience, I think. Great review. If anyone is interested, it¹s online, but you have to search for Octopus¹ since the new issue isn¹t up yet. (And you probably need an online subscription). Btw in no way is this a replacement for a p3. It is totally different in approach, and really has nothing like the p3 aux events. I am quite glad that I have both. I do agree with one of Paul¹s criticisms, and I wonder whether I¹ll change my mind after a few weeks of use I can¹t see but that a display along the top above the matrix would really have made it much easier to work with. But maybe the lack of a display actually facilitates its use as an instrument once one is comfortable with its functionality and keystrokes? I can¹t comment on that yet.
