Hi Colin & gang, I've finally decided to give v4 a go today, and I must say it's taking some getting used to.. A few comments: Definite likes: * I really like the new saving options, allowing you to save patterns to different tracks and parts. * I also really like the (auto) function for auxes in the multi-bar-patterns. I understand a similar function for the tBase & direction is TBI? * The ability to set loop-points is excellent, although not entirely flawless yet: I had a 3-bar pattern with bars 2&3 looped set up in part 1, then ghosted this to part 2, copied bar 2 to bar 1, set the pattern-length to 1 bar and saved the whole pattern as a "new" one, with the intention of having only this bar play, but the loop-points remained at bars 2&3, as I had set them in part 1. * The dynamic memory handling is cool as well and will undoubtedly be really useful, as I always have some patterns left on one side and a shortage on the other. Dislikes & stuff that needs some getting used to: * I like the v4 way of enabling longer patterns, but to be honest, the way it works at the moment it just looks like you've taken the playlist-edit mode and merged it into pattern-edit, only with an added step to reach the playlist from play-mode. I also really liked being able to copy and edit patterns/bars without the pattern/bar having to be active in a playlist. The way it works in v3, you can have a playlist of 1 pattern running, save this pattern to another pattern that isn't in the playlist yet, edit that pattern, return to playlist-edit, set the second pattern up as the second step in the playlist and then finally lengthen the playlist to a length of 2 bars. In v4 I have to lengthen the multi-bar-patterns length to 2 first, and only then I can copy, edit, etc. leading to blank bars being played. At the moment the whole thing is just an adapted version of the playlist as it was, but with quite a bit less functionality. I'd like to see a shortcut for selecting the bar you want to edit directly from any page in pattern-edit, without having to go to page 4 to select it first. This would greatly improve the multi-bar-pattern thing for me. * One thing I find really annoying is that when I switch to a new part in a bank I can't select a previously made pattern in any track in that part. If i'm not mistaken I'd have to save a pattern to a new part before I actually switch to that part.. * Another thing that I find myself disagreeing with is the inability to ghost only certain bars of patterns instead of a complete pattern. With v3 I often have tracks in different parts with playlists in which one pattern is alternated with a number of others: 1|2|1|3|1|2|1|4 and 1|5|1|3|1|6|1|4, or 1|2|2|3, 1|2|2|4 and 5|2|2|3 for example. With v3 i'd use 6 1-bar patterns in the 1st example and 5 1-bar patterns in the 2nd, where with v4 i'd use 2 8-bar patterns in the 1st example and 3 4-bar patterns in the 2nd. That's 6 or 5 "bars" used with v3 against 16 or 12 in v4... So to summarise, there's some really interesting and useful functions in v4, but with the way v4 works at the moment it's only got me hoping you'll implement these things in v3 soon. grtz, Chiel
