Analogue-sequencer

I have one of the pre-production p3s that steve thomas engraved and routed 
the cases for.

Ive just opened it up to fit the memory expansion board, and, whaddya know - 
what should be a nice simple task gets more complex... : (
There is a lack of clearance between the note board and the memory board. 
Specifically where the ribbon cable attatches to the pot board theres a 
conflict.  The upper pot board's connector seems, from what i can tell by 
peering in through the gap when i close the case, to clear.  This must, of 
course, be due to the angle of the case...

Anyway..

I was considering desoldering the pcb headder and swapping it over to the 
other side (which may, or may not, just give that little extra clearance) 
but i cant quite get my head arround the ribbon cable - if i split the cable 
connector and rotate the cable, are the correct cores going to align with 
the correct pins?

Alternativly, which would quite possibly actually be easier, i may just 
solder the ribbon direct to the pcb.

There must still be some people on the list from back in the day - just 
wondered if anyone has encountered (and more to the point, resolved) this 
issue?
