The three pins of each connector wire straight to the 3 pins of the pot.
If you get the outer pins the wrong way round, you'll have a pot that works
in reverse, but it will still work.

All versions were good at the time, but that one is very old.
There is a bootloader update required before you can load a newer one
though.
You'll find that in the Yahoo files section, in the 'bootloader' folder.
Read the readme file first.
You just need the p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89 files, not the sysex update.

Sounds like your battery backup is not working.
Check the DS1210 is in the right way.
Put a multimeter on the RAM chips pin 28 and 14, and you should see battery
voltage while the power is off, 5 volts while it is on.
