Production P3s are not fitted with the LCD resistor - the value of the resistor depends on the current supply requirement of the LCD module used. The LCDs I supply use 47 ohms, but if you are installing a display you source yourself, you should check the datasheet for the right resistor value for a 5 volt supply to make sure you don't burn the backlight out or have it too dim.
