>>Not sure about your comment about "you're still programming something".<<

the display, the functional depth, the having to remember what each knob or button is doing in the context of what the display says.

there's a degree of this with the notron, granted, & with the octopus, & in both cases it's a pain if you're red/green colourblind as one of my bandmates is. but with these machines it's easier to deal with for me personally, kind of like playing a guitar in an odd tuning.
with the p3, I still find that I'm making errors because I'm on the wrong damn page. but I still have two of them.
I sort of want the LCD's backlight to go different colours for different pages/modes. is that too weird?

I will grant the p3 this, though- there is no greater hardware sequencer in terms of scoring highly in ALL of the categories:
bang-for-buck functionality, ease-of-use, build-quality, flexibility, ergonomics, reliability & overall coolness. & in case we disregard it as a selling point, there is this: frequent updates, good communication from the man himself, this helpful & friendly forum, & many features added to the p3 after we've individually requested or suggested them. only the octopus comes close in this last regard.

it's just that I go through these assymetrical & awkward phases of wanting to *play* something that's an odd shape. normally I take this out on one of my many basses (last count was over two dozen) or guitars (a mere seven or eight) but sometimes it's the latronic.

I take it then that I'm not bidding against you for this latest? apologies if I am bidding against another list-member, but my outpouring of yesterday has awoken a curious & slightly superstitious need for a spare.....

>>And anyway the Cirklon is gonna blow it away. :D<<

& when I buy one or two of those, I'll be sure to opine... :-)
