The expansion port will provide either 2 pairs of CV and gate outputs, or a
9-pin D socket carrying a high-speed serial line (most likely SPI on LVDS
drivers).
The serial port will drive a multi-channel CV output (and possibly input)
box.
By a lucky coincidence, the CPU I'm using has a dual 12-bit DAC on board,
which shares the same set of pins as one of the SPI ports, so the same
header can be software configured for either I/O job.
