It means the boot-time checksum calculated from the main program is incorrect - one or more bytes in the flash ROM must have become corrupt. So long as the bootloader code is unaffected, re-loading the OS by sysex should fix it. If the bootloader is affected (not very likely), I can usually erase the whole chip and re-flash it.
