hello all.
ive never posted but i've been watching for a while..
my question is say i want to build one my self(asuming i have not waited too
long) is any one going to produce the cases for a desk top version? for a
rack mount? hope this si not an overly redundant question.
would gladly pay some one for the labor..as i have NO metal shaping skill or
tools for the job... i see a fully assembled version may become available,
but would like to save $$ w/ the diy version. another painfully obvious
question,(sorry) how much is the diy kit? are all diodes, resistors,
caps,knobs, ect. included..?

thanks to any one who can help me catch up.
Gabe

Hi Gabe,

The first run of kits is sold out, but hopefully there will be enough
interest for a second run.

The desktop cases I've made so far have had the pot and LED holes drilled
by hand, and the cut-outs for the LCD, keypad and switch board cut out
using a hand-held metal nibbler.
It needs a fair bit of filing and sanding to get the finish up to scratch,
and then it needs to be re-painted. The end result is quite nice, but it
takes me a good few hours of work to get it done, so I can't start mass
producing them.

I've also had a rack panel made by Schaeffer, which is obviously a much
higher quality of finish, but I'm yet to come up with a satisfactory rear
enclosure - my rack panel is sitting on a couple of pieces of wood at the
moment, to hold it off the table.

When I get the time, I'll investigate the cost of getting both the
machining of the desktop case, and the construction of a rear end for the
Schaeffer panel done professionally.
I've been a bit too busy of late to do this yet.

I'll be costing the full kit soon too. I've got a couple of 'test' kits to
put together to see how much effort it takes.

Cheers,
Colin f
