bugger..my excuse was going to be that the last version of the manual 
i had a look at was v3.82, but that's also got this in. i must have 
skipped it as 'not important'..i'll have a look in the manual first 
next time i discover something new..

It's hidden in the manual Chiel ;-)
pgm channel is the midi channel that BPgm is sent on - it's meant for
multi-timbral sound modules that can receive patch changes for multis on a
separate channel from the virtual synths. Your terminology may vary...
