crazy thought? expander for p3...

I was trying to reconcile the fact that I am already thinking that I will probably want another p3 at some point with rapidly diminishing space in my apartment, when I started to wonder - the reason that it takes up as much space as it does is because of the buttons and knobs, the interface, but why would you need two of these interfaces to control 16 tracks. Why not a much smaller little box to link to the p3, and could be stuffed anywhere, even a small body cavity, and then a menu option on the p3 where you would, say, choose p3 # 2...and then the all of the knobs and buttons would control the other p3...
