I am considering getting the p3, but am rather strpped for cash at 
the minute, could someone pleasetell me what i mightexpect to pay in 
additional costs, after buying the initial kit, cheers

It depends on how much you pay for a case, but you can get all the
components for under 150 quid.
If you can drill and machine a case yourself, you should be able to
build a complete P3 for under 250 quid including the kit.
