I had a negative reaction too, because of the look and the color.

I guess how they feel will matter most.

If they *feel* like computer keys I wouldn't like them.

Not that it matters of course because I would never even dream about ordering 
ANOTHER P3 since I already have one and don't NEED another one and would 
never even think of owning TWO of something and can't possibly let it matter what 
happens because a SECOND one would be just TOO...much...fun...

*sigh*

If they really don't look so beige, and they press crisply, and Colin likes 
'em, they're probably okay.

I've discussed colour with the suppliers.
The alternative light colour is a very light grey. They're sending me
samples.

The kits may still allow for a choice of Multimec tact switches or the
Cherry switches - it depends if both can fit or not.
Obviously the production case will suit only one type of keys, and since the
Cherry keys are my preference, and the most common choice for ready-built
units, that's what I'm going with.
These keys do have a computer feel, the same as the Maplin keys I've used up
to now.
However, these keys are from a range with a choice of three different
displacement/actuation force curves.
They can be supplied in linear feel, soft tactile feel or click tactile
feel. The datasheet has graphs of these curves (if you are at that much of
an anorak), they are from the MX range -

I only intend to supply linear feel, but kit builders could source either of
the two tactile responses if desired.
The average life of these switches is 10,000,000,000 presses - way better
than the tact switches.
Whether that will convert those who would have used the Multimec switches,
we'll see...
