Does P3 have remote Program Change support?

Does P3 have remote Program Change support?

2005-01-20 by Renegade Rhythms Corporation

Hi Colin,
While waiting for the cases to be built, I"ve been going through
the US parts list to see what I'll be needing, as well as going
through the manual. After going through the manual, I didn't
see any information on the P3 handling remote Program Change requests
to change the patterns/playlists. It is a feature that I use on the
MAQ and I was hoping to replace the MAQ with the P3 :)

Is this something that the P3 can do (let me know if I missed it in
the manaul)?

If not, is it something that can be implemented in the remaining
free memory?

Remote Program Change is a feature that we are waiting for in the
Mobius sequencer. It is quite useful for those of us with other
sequencers.

Obviously remote changes of Patterns/Playlists is mainly what I am
wanting, but something that the MAQ offers is remote control of
many internal functions. Not sure if you have any space or desire
for any of these, but for those of us using a remote sequencers with
the P3, it opens up even more possibilities.

For example,

http://www.doepfer.de/maq_m_e.htm

If you scroll down to Appendix A, you can see all the items that
are controllably remotely via Midi Program Changes.

Thanks,

Dave

dave... fyi, the parts list may need to be updated due to newer board
revisions, plus colin is including (i believe) his fancy keyswitches as an
option for kit builders.

colin... could you send me any changes to the parts list so i can make
sure the US parts list is accurate?

thanks,
fred.

bleep.
out.

It's on the TBI list, but it may prove somewhat complex. I won't know until
I try...
The thing about the MAQ is, it does so much less than P3, implementing
remote control would be pretty easy ;-)

Indeed it will. The new revision boards have a new output driver to provide
enough oomph for the four parallel midi output sockets.
Plus there is onboard support for an extra PIC to provide a midi clock only
sync output instead of DIN sync.

Will do. I'll be checking and updating the BoM in the next few days, progeny
permitting.
