accent aux event?

accent aux event?

2005-02-08 by bleep

hi all...

i'm listening to some old junk i did with an er-1 that relies heavily on
its accent track, and i really like the groove and how easy it was to get.

basically, you mark certain steps which will be accented and twiddle a
knob to control the depth of that accent. all the way off negates the
accent; all the way up places the accented notes at full velocity, making
those the only audible notes.

i can see the revised knob events being used for this if there was some
aux event that could be used as an accent in some way, but with the P3 you
could set each accented step to a different level, sculpting the groove
more deeply...

any thoughts on this?

You can do something along those lines with the 'knob n to velo'
event already - to over-ride the stored velocity on certain steps.
There are additional events TBI, that will scale existing values by
a knob, rather than over-riding the stored value.
But I need to clear up some space for more events before I can do
this.
One of the ways I might free events is by combining all
the 'grab ... trk n' and 'swap .. trk n' into single grab and swap
events, where the value of the event specifies the track and the
value to be swapped. I.e. 'grab value trk n' could take values
of 'velo, trk 1', 'note trk 2', etc.
The problem with doing that is that old saved patterns would need to
be edited.
