Midi sync, and START and CONTINUE

Midi sync, and START and CONTINUE

2005-02-20 by Julian

Once again im working on syncing up evreything.
It looks as if, for a multitude of reasons, i need to use my fostex as a master.

START is only sent at the beginning of the track, at all other times CONTINUE is sent when play is hit on the fostex. It seems that
the p3 will only tempo sync on START. Additionaly only START will trigger a START at the din sync output.

What im trying to achieve is that the p3 starts, tempo synced, from the beginning of the bar, when it recieves a CONTINUE message,
with the following two 'musts':

*it has to start from the beginning of the bar, so as to keep the 606 in sync as the 606 always starts from the beginning of the bar
*i have nowhere to generate a START from all the time, so i must tempo sync to a CONTINUE

I hope im missing somthing, and this is in fact possible? There was a thread about this in the middle of last year, but i cant quite
work out what the conclusion was. There was talk of slightly more 'hidden' options?
Cheers, Julian

There's a user config option to make P3 treat a continue as a start.
It's called 'Start on cont'.

Thankyou,

The p3 itself is now syncing just as id like now, but the 606 is still not starting, other then when the p3 recieves a START command
(ie it dosnt seem as if the CONTINUE is 100% being used as a START would be)

Ah yes. The continue code doesn't set the DIN RUN pin on, since the P3 DIN
sync output doesn't support continue.
But it should turn it on when continue acts as start.
I'll fix that in the next build.
