P3 update

P3 update

2005-03-01 by colinfraser_com

Folks,

I've finally got an estimated delivery date for the cases - they
should be with me on 8th March. Apparently there's been a delay
getting the right inserts, but I'm assured they just need the
inserts, painting and screening and they'll be ready.
The wooden end cheeks are coming from a different supplier, and I've
not got a firm date for them, but hopefully they wont be too long,
and I can always ship them on later if folks are keen to get their
P3.
I'm hoping to get the updated BoM online tonight, colic-plagued
infant son permitting.

Cheers,
Colin f

Another Tip: 'playing' sequence variations

2005-03-02 by Paul Nagle

Well, well, here's one I've been enjoying lately...

It uses an Aux event I never really used very much before - "Swap All
trk n"

First I have a track with a simple bassline in it pootling along
harmlessly. Then I set up another track (8) that is set to an unused
MIDI channel (in my case 16). This track has a funky, lively, zappy
kinda bassline in it. I then set up an aux event in every step saying
Swap All with Track 1 (this being the location of my simple bassline).

Now whenever I activate track 8, the bassline is transformed for as
long as I have the track active. So by playing the key for track 8 I
can introduce variations as and when I want.

You could extend this further either by using knob events to
mask/unmask Set Note events or you could have yet another track doing
random mutes and unmutes of track 8 so your bassline would toggle
between two possibilities according to chance.

A useful one, I think.
