Hi colin/folks

a couple of questions on functions of the p3.

Is it possible to do a trick i use to do on an old and now burnt out binned notron (no name dropping intended!)

The trick was that you could grab a dial and in realtime as a sequence was running dial back or step back a sequence as it ran so if you were clever you could get notes repeating and quite literally jump a sequence back and forth but the real novelty was that you could do this easily on all 4 sequences and so take 4 tracks and very quickly alter their timing relationship in realtime . . . i guess what i am saying is . . .

whilst the sequencer runs can i somehow step back a sequence relative to the others by hand ? by maybe tapping a button in the case of the P3?

I hope that made sense :)

That's more than fair! Thanks in advance...

I do this by muting or skipping notes in one (or more) of the sequences.

Interesting idea...
In pattern edit, you can force a reset, or step an extra step forward using
the 'sync' softkey, but there's no method in play mode to mess with pattern
positions across all tracks.
Seems like it would really need endless encoders to do it in the same way as
the Notron.
So it's really a question of how it would be implemented in the UI.
At the moment, RUN + <track> allows you to tweak pattern directions
dynamically, but I don't think that's documented, so maybe no-one uses it. I
could always re-assign that to pattern reset, or manual step advance.
I shall put it on my list of things to ponder ;-)

Colin f

whoa!!! i would've used it had i known it was there! how does it work?
does it just cycle through the different directions???

(btw... i do like this guy's idea...)

bleep.
out.

Yeah, just advances through them with each press.
I'd forgotten about it myself, until I was thinking about using it for step
advance...

I'm going to add in another user config byte, so potentially it could be a
toggleable option.
