Can the P3 share a MIDI bus with other devices?

Can the P3 share a MIDI bus with other devices?

2005-08-12 by Robert van der Kamp

Hi all,

I've placed the P3 along with other synths on the same MIDI
bus. Now when I put the P3 is real-time record mode, I'd
only like it to record incoming notes that are addressed to
the P3's own MIDI channel, much like I want a synth only to
produce a sound when I send it MIDI data to the MIDI
channel assigned to it.

But by the way it looks now, the P3 is in OMNI mode,
consuming everything that is put on the MIDI bus. So it
looks like the P3 wants the whole thing, and not just one
channel I assign it.

I'm still learning the thing (again), so I may well have
missed a parameter or technique to get this done.

Btw, nice to read the manual again, but now together with
the user guide. I just passed the section on playlist
editing, and I'm another man now, more like the soldiers
that came back from a war, heh. ;)

Btw2, I love what the P3 can do, it's amazing. But on a
black DIY case, the user interface is a struggle for me. I
never know if I have to press the first group of 8 step
keys or the second set of 8. ;)

That's true up to the current release version.
The latest beta lets you choose a specific record channel, and either passes
or drops everything else depending on the normal thru setting.

Sounds like you need a production model ;-)

Cool!
Now that's what I call perfect timing. :)

Yup. Can I trade in my two kits? :P
