colin- many thanks for the quick turnaround- 1003 is up & running
again, & I'm about to paypal you the dosh for the bits (yes, plural, &
no pun intended) to bring ol' 73 into the 21st century.
I'm liking the new software... this is still a beta, right? but I
must've "missed a few meetings" because, in addition to the changes
around the midi channelising & remote control, the whole part/playlist
editing business has changed from what I was used to.
this rocks. way better than the old version.

actually, this might be useful for someone just getting started on the
p3, or anyone else trying to get to grips with the newer versions of
the s/w: I fired up the p3 /without any other cables attached/. so all
I'm doing is watching it's behaviour, & not being distracted by any
amazing basslines or 'owt.

the new combinations of led colours now on display made me think I'd
done something wrong again....

at first I couldn't work out what was going on because in normal play,
I couldn't get two parts to chain. but the playlist edit makes much
more sense now.

later I'll be trying out the new midi functionality, but first I've got
to unwrap & check a bel bd80 that just showed up. :-)
