tune key

tune key

I'm just curious why the P3 sends a middle C note on when I press the
"tune" key?

The Minimoog's tune switch is A-440. My Roland 100m's tune switch
sounds A440, A880, A220. The Roland MPU101 midi to CV converter sends
out A4 CV's. Most tuner's are calibrated to A-440. If you're in a
band and the guitar player needs to tune and you give him a C he might
get annoyed.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth if this has already been discussed.

Our guitarist would never tune to an analogue synth but to a guitar
tuner. In P3 terms, the sending of middle C is incredibly useful for
tuning your analogue synths against your digital ones. My System 100 has
an A440 signal too but I prefer to tune it against my digital synths.
Whichever note you pick, all you need to know is which note it is, surely?
