hi all,

does anyone know if this sequencer does a different
job than the P3?

Schrittmaker FEATURES

MIDI step sequencer (1 x MIDI In, 2 x MIDI Out)
240x128 pixel LED-backlit display
Fast access to 32 parameter lines each with 16 steps.
Parameter lines can be configured as Note, Velocity,
Gate, Len, Midi, Add or Ctrl.
Play mode (forward, backward, forward/backward,
pingpong and random) and speed can be configured for
each parameter line.
Additional parameters like note length, MIDI channel
and controller can be configured depending on line
type.
16 endless dials with pushbutton.
Skip and mute steps by pressing the endless dials.
Step mode (play, mute, skip) indicated by bi-colored
LEDs
Manipulate sequences in real time with 8 controllers
which can be controlled internal or external via
pitch, channel aftertouch or control change 0-120.
Supports internal and external MIDI clock.
Loop function for quick and direct definition of new
loops.
Sync function resyncs parameter lines to main clock.
Stores up to 30 presets
Software update via MIDI.

I like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dreams so...don't know
whether to buy the P3... I would if I would know if it
does the same job as the old sequencers...gate
lengths, etc...

Cheers

RE: [analogue-sequencer] Re: Schrittmaker

2005-10-25 by Gene Schwartz

I have one (as well as a p3). I love it. It is a very different machine, and
will not do any of the more advanced things that the p3 can do.

However, it does do some things better (well, more easily at least. I think
that the p3 can accomplish almost everything that the Schrittmacher can,
though not quite as much of it). It also lacks some basic things like a song
mode.

The display is excellent - you can see all 16 steps in a sequence. The step
and note lengths have more granularity, and can extend out to 16 beats. You
can save sequences by name.

What is really easy to set up on the Schrittmacher are sequences in which
the basic note components are decoupled, and can sequence with independent #
of steps and gate lengths. Because each track (I'm forgetting their lingo -
I'm so lost in lingo these days, I tend to forget it all) can be set up as a
particular event type, and you have 3 'ranges' of 8 tracks each, you could
conceivably have 24 tracks with independent rhythms/lengths playing
simultaneously. It is also easy to set up modulation tracks (that modulate
other tracks), and to accomplish similar modulations through midi.

However, there is really only this surface level - there are nothing at all
like the p3 aux events.

If you'd like, you can email me offline with more specific questions.
