The manual starts with a "quick start" section.
When it's in its final form, I'll maybe upload that as a separate, and
smaller, download.

Ah yes, there's that one too. Though Mr Nagle might object to being called
Mr Maddox ;-)

The nature of the user guide may well change given the improvements to the
'factory' manual.

P3 Quick-Start Guide?

2006-03-23 by ivancu@aol.com

I have seen a few comments where people say it is pretty easy to get
started using a P3 as a basic step sequencer. Is there a quick-start
guide that outlines this or do I just have to dig through the manual?

I'm more of a fan of playing with something to learn it, but sometimes
RTFM is needed!

The quick start guide is really the "P3 Users Guide" that is on the P3
home page, that Paul Maddox put together. It's a bit different then the
P3 Manal Here's the link:

Too right! I expect it to become a "P3 Tips" guide instead at some
point. All I need is a cheap bottle of claret, a fat spliff and a free
Saturday afternoon...

Fortunately the new factory manual will mean there is no urgency for
this at all: it's just a bit of indulgent fun for me...

I don't object to being called Mr Maddox actually: he's cleverer than me
and has a lovely hairy pimp coat.

Currently in the hand of Jeremy Beadle. Unfortunately, for legal
reasons, he says we can't broadcast it...:)

I'm totally with you that it's more fun to learn by playing it, although
in the case of the P3 I highly recommend actually reading the manual (or
at least browse through it). It's not really that long, but you'll only
be able to really appreciate the power of the P3 if you dig a bit
deeper, and that's a lot easier after a read.

I know from my own experience - at first I didn't "get" the P3, and only
after taking the time trying to understand it, I became a total convert.

Where is the 3.1.006 draft manual?

2006-03-26 by Gene Schwartz

I'm a bit behind - went in today to get all the latest stuff, but all I can
find is the 3.1.005 manual....

Sorry if it's in an obvious location.

Thanks to all the nice graphics, the new manual PDF is 12MB in size, so it
wont fit in Yahoo files.
You'll find it here:
http://www.sequentix.com/pdf/p3-manual-draft.pdf

What you will find in Yahoo files is the the final release test build.
I'm pretty sure this will become the release version, though I haven't been
through the full run of tests.

Manual looks great. However, when I print it out I don't get page
numbers. Is that a problem/configuration item on my end, ,or does that
need to be embedded in the doc?

The PDF was updated over the last couple of days.
The first one that I posted didn't have the headers and footers with page
numbers added, but the current one does.
If you've printed the current one, and it's missing page numbers, it could
be that you're printing on a non-A4 paper size without scaling.
