It's easy. I'm away from my computer right now - but you basically just choose the input midi port for the p3 as the input port for that track. If you want to route one p3 channel to one instrument, and another channel to another instrument, etc, there is an input filter that you can set - you'd tell it that this track only receives channel one, etc...Don't know how much sense that makes. I could provide a clearer description if I were in front of the computer. 

I've not only accomplished what you are attempting, but I've gone in the other direction...recording into Cubase, and then recording that into the p3. The only issue I've run into is the synchronization issue I posted about.
