PCB Update

2003-05-01 by colinfraser_com

Hi folks,

Well aside from getting a few address lines in the wrong order (fixed
in software) the test PCB CPU board is up and running.
I haven't finished the pot and switch boards, but they are very
simple so shouldn't be a problem. I *will* fully test them before
ordering multiple boards, of course.
I aim to get the user manual and bill of materials finished at the
weekend.

So the question now is, how many people want a set of boards in the
first run ?

The cost of the boards + CPU will be somewhere under 85 ukp,
depending on the number of orders. More orders = cheaper boards.
The rest of the components to complete a sequencer will cost another
100ukp or so, plus the cost of a case, which varies significantly
depending on how you go about it. The prototype case cost 25 ukp,
plus a couple of hours with a nibbler and a drill.

If you're ready to buy a set of boards now, let me know by private
email to sequencer@colinfraser.com
Please don't tell me you want a set of boards if you will change your
mind later, as that will just hold up the order for others.

Once I know how many sets will be ordered, I'll get a quote from the
PCB makers, confirm the price, and then take payment.

Cheers,
Colin f

Just a reminder that I'll be placing the order for the first run of
boards early next week, so if you want a set and haven't mailed me
yet (mail to sequencer@colinfraser.com) please let me know soon.

Cheers,

Hi Folks,

There's going to be a slight delay on the boards.
I've made some final changes to the main board layout to support the
extra switches and LEDs for key and knob function select, added extra
pads to support 3 different types of key switch, plus I'm having the
individual boards de-panelised from the large board.
I've considered just going ahead with the full order for boards, but
I'm too paranoid about making a mistake on a large order, so I've
decided to get one more test board set of the final, final layout.
I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
Colin f

Hi all/ Hi Colin

Well, that's no problem for me. I'd rather you go to the trouble to double
check than try to rush and then discover something that was 'forgotten' and
needs some ugly work-around!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
