To upgrade to version 3.1.xxx from 3.98 you first need to install the
bootloader update.
That will change the Sysex ID used for the dumps to the official Sequentix
ID.

You'll find the necessary files in the Yahoo files section, Bootloader
folder -
p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89.syx and p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89.txt

I'd guess it's a problem with the data file - perhaps it was
corrupted when you downloaded it?

I use Macs as well - Max/MSP has a Standard MIDI File playing object,
so I just lobbed the SMF dump into that...

If it wont accept p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89.syx make sure you haven't got a
MIDI loop back to the P3.
Its own ACK message will cause a BAD DATA, as it shouldn't see it coming
back.

There's a small possibility your MIDI input stage is marginal, and large
blocks of data don't work.
You could check that by doing a dump of your pattern data, and seeing if it
can load back in without showing any errors.

Have you checked for a MIDI feedback loop? Maybe the P3 is echoing back to
the MIDI interface or vice-versa.

Dave

The 13 thing

2006-12-02 by Hans Greuber

I have reminded how the P3 worked after two years stopped...

But I can´t get any tie effect with the 13 lenght thing..

May I got some further explanation please?

Thanks;

Hans

A length of 13 tells P3 to hold the note on a step until the next active
step comes along.
It holds the note over any inactive steps between the length 13 note and the
next active step.

The TIE setting still works as before - if TIE is active on a step, the note
on that step will overlap the following note.
That is, the note-off for a tied step is not sent until after the note-on
for the following step.
With length = 13, a TIEd note will still overlap the following note, though
that note may be several steps later.

Just to demonstrate...

2006-12-03 by Paul Nagle

.... that the P3 doesn't just do "aeolian". <G>

www.bogusfocus.com/pn/mp3/BlameGandHowardG.mp3

It could be around 15Mb I think. Told you it was self-indulgent. Very
high quality MP3(tm). Song only lasts 16 seconds too. Amazing technology
when you think about it. But I shan't and you can't make me. And to
answer your question yes and yes.

A little self-indulgent noodle, warts 'n' all.

Wooooooo
