Where do I start?

Where do I start?

2008-05-31 by Ivan

It's Alive! My P3 is now a living breathing sequencer thanks to Steve
V and his diligent work. And to Colin for helping diagnose a few issues.

It's got v4 loaded. So where do I begin? What documentation do I
need to read to get going?

Thanks in advance!

Ivan, have you got the manual, if not go to
http://www.sequentix.com/sq_download.htm

I have just started learning the P3 myself and I would strongly
suggest you get your head around patterns and tracks first...once
you've done that the patterns/parts thing will make sense...otherwise
its a bit confusing...theres quite a bit to learn but it is a
fantastic machine and worth the effort. I learned my craft on old
analogue sequencers and the P3 really takes it to a new level. How are
you using your P3, are you using it in conjunction with a DAW..if you
are using Cubase there are a few tricks I picked up recently on this
forum which may be of some help.

Congrats getting your P3 up and running!

I agree the manual is required reading and Paul Nagle's user guide.
Though both were written for v3, the basics still apply.

Meat and Potatoes:

User configs and midi setup
Recording (both with keyboard and without, with arp record and normal)
FTS, Pattern Length, Global Bar Length
Auxes (randomize, direction, accumulators)

That should be enough to get you started.

Welcome to the club!

I have to give credit where it is due. Steve took all the photos and
built the kit. He does a fantastic job and is very particular which
is why I entrusted this kit (and future projects, I'm sure) to him.
