V3 vs v4 pattern edit

V3 vs v4 pattern edit

2009-05-30 by Ditton33

With V3 I've not found a way of jumping into a different pattern (either on
the same track or a different track) without having to save or lose the
current pattern being edited.

Does v4 offer a way of doing this, and if so can V4 run without the memx
upgrade?

That's the main difference between v3 and v4 - a multibar pattern in v4 is
edited as a single entity.
In v3, you can use a playlist to chain patterns, but each pattern has to be
edited individually, and the edit buffer either saved or lost before you can
edit another pattern.

Thanks Colin.

I'm less interested in editing chained patterns (whether playlist or
multibar constructed), more interested in editing patterns in the same part
but on different tracks. Does v4 help here too, and can it be installed
without the memx?.

Yes, v4 lets you easily use the same pattern on different tracks.
It runs without MemX no problem.
If you run out of memory, there is always sysex...
