It's not implemented yet, so all the planned new features may not appear with the next units to ship, but the work is in progress and going to plan so far... There will be two pattern types on Cirklon. The P3 pattern is almost identical to a v4 P3 pattern - 16 steps per bar, up to 16 bars, bar loops points, directions, auxes etc. The main differences are some increased value ranges for the higher resolution. The note length can be up to (in theory) 80 bars or so now. If you set a note to be longer than a step, the note continues to play over any other notes on following steps, unless it has been tied. That's a Notron feature I didn't fully appreciate until I played with a Notron. This pattern type is fully implemented now, with a few loose ends being tidied up. You can record realtime into a P3 pattern just as you could on P3, but that does quantize at record time. The cirklon pattern type is a linear event-list based pattern. It will not have a limit on sequence length, other than internal memory. Well, I suppose a 32-bit value for pattern length in ticks will limit you to 5.5 million bars of 4/4 This pattern type will make enable step or realtime recording of long patterns, including CC streams. It will also enable internal control streams to be captured from the Cirklon UI, so you can use one track to make a linear recording of a live performance on the other tracks, then play it back to recreate all the mutes/unmutes/transposes/pattern and scene selections/edits/etc., while you tweak knobs. That's the workflow I'm after, anyway. > -What would the resolution go up to? 192 ppqn. > -What about track lengths, if I were recording into it, could > it just take my notes for however long and then set the track > length to suit? Yes. > -Will it be able to record drum patterns from an MPC pad > style MIDI controller? Would it then be able to put the > different pad/MIDI notes onto different tracks? The cirklon pattern type will also be ideal for percussion patterns, since it will not have the limit of a single velocity value as in a P3 pattern, and you wont have to use aux note assignments to achieve polyphony. There will be a 'drum edit' mode that presents each bar of the pattern as a typical x0x drum grid, with kit definitions to support instrument naming.
