Editing bars

2010-04-19 by ach_gott

After year away from the P3, I've installed the LCD and the MemX expansion and upgraded to v4.0. I've started on a song that I like very much, but find myself at an impasse where the usage notes aren't helping.

- I have the major bits assigned to parts where I can improvise between the 5 voices with 1 part/harmonic function.
- I've added another track on the same MIDI channel as another track, I intend to mute the voice's primary track and construct a solo/bridge on its secondary track. It plays along side the primary material for that part.
- I've defined the new track to have 8 bars that play with the primary material and edited the first bar. It has notes/gates/aux events, etc.
- I go into bar edit mode and select the bar for editing.
- Beyond this I can't seem to do anything apart from copying the first bar into another bar and transposing/repeating it. I don't know how to get into the bar in question.

Clearly I'm not reading something in the usage notes correctly. I suspect there's an analogy between playlist/bar functionality that I've forgotten.

thanks,

When you are in normal pattern edit mode (rather than bar edit), you'll see
the current bar number and the length of the pattern in bars at the top
right of the display. e.g. on bar 3 of a 4 bar pattern it'll show "3/4"
You use the DATA knob to select which bar to edit.
In bar edit mode, you can still use the DATA knob, or you can directly
select a bar by pressing the step keys.
The selected bar will show RED in bar edit mode.
