P3 Roadmap

P3 Roadmap

2004-01-12 by colinfraser_com

Thanks for the barrage of ideas over the last few days ;-)

I've considered the options with regard to adding extra buttons, but
on balance I've decided to leave the hardware as is.
A number of people didn't like the idea of having to change existing
hardware or be 'left behind', and it has since occured to me that
the existing set of buttons is not being used optimally anyway - the
two function switches do nothing in play or playlist edit mode other
than changing the 'VU' mode for start.
The TBI list I have now has so many things on it, I really need to
prioritise them, and group them together based on any common changes
to the core code that they'll need.
First on the list has to be the auxilliary controllers, as they will
satisfy a number of feature requests with a fairly simple level of
implementation.
Once the initial set of those are done, I'll get onto the interface
refinement - especially for playlist edit mode, which I feel is a
lot more clunky than I'd like. Not surprising since it was a fairly
hasty addition...

The system ROM is now 75% full, so this can't go on forever (phew!),
but there should still be plenty cool stuff to come ;-)

Cheers,
Colin f

well it's a pretty briliant hasty addition then..i've got one
more 'improvement' for playlist-edit; a 'shift' function, like the
one in pattern edit, so you could insert a pattern at the end of a
playlist and then shift the playlist so the newly-inserted pattern
plays first..as it's kind of confusing having to re-program a
complete playlist if you want to insert a new pattern somewhere
inbetween the first & last steps of the playlist. come to think of
it, just an 'insert step' function woud be pretty neat too..
