Another idea, way out of left field, would be the new reissue of the Oberheim SEM (the patch control version). http://www.tomoberheim.com/ Oberheim's were, I believe, desirable because of their ability to perform "vicious" filter sweeps. I assume you would get the capability of a "fixed architecture" synth, which you could patch into a modular (you would probably need a convertor module or adaptor to use with eurorack) although having never seen one of these, not sure you could patch the LFO out independently - next months UK Sound on Sound mag promises a review.
