Re: analogue and digital

2003-05-25 by piperplaysynth

Hi and welcome to the group.

My reply to your first email is a response to your comments about
digital modules from a company called "Anlogue" Systems.

It would be very easy for Analogue Systems to take the easy route and
just recycle 30 to 40 year old ideas and designs. Some people would
still buy them.

In my opinion, analogue synthesis has come of age. It still does some
things better than anything else, but these days - it is not the only
way to synthesise. Bob Williams has his head firmly in this century
and is willing to risk a great deal to try to create new ideas as well
as re-creating some of the most loved modules/effects from the past.

In the 80s we had digitally controled analogue synths which allowed
poliphonic synthesis for mass production (and credible cost). Now we
have a chance to control digital equipment from an analogue source -
so the balance has been restored and as far as I can see, this can
only be for the good of all of us.

This could be a great debating area, does anyone else want to add to
it?

Regards

Dave.
