Contest for the "Sound of the month"

2003-05-29 by Arnauld Michelizza

I recently sent an email about the idea of setting a contest every month.
Here we are for the 1st edition !
I thought a lot about the sound for the 1st contest. And that was
really not an easy job. First, I thought about classic synth sounds like
"the fatest bass", snare imitation and other bell sounds but I thought it
was not enough original, it was too much "deja vu". It was the same for
patches trying to mimic accoustic instruments (guitar, violin, etc.).
Yesterday, my neighbours were making housework and then, I heard them
piercing the wall, and it suddenly gave me the idea of the Sound of the
Month. This month, we will try to mimic... drill sounds ! Very interesting
sound indeed, with evolving tonalities depending on pressure, rotation
speed and hardness.

There is a dedicated folder in "Files" where you can put all your stuff.
Every sound must be with a text or a picture describing the patch you
created.

You have one month to create your patch. Next month, there will be a poll
to pick the best patch. Nothing to earn except glory and joy to share
knowledge and creativity ! :-)
Reach quickly your knobs and patch cords and may the best patch win !

Arnauld
