Analogue systems

I dont have a synapse but (RANT impending) I have recently dealt with
a.n. other company than Analogue Systems whose name begins Analogue S

- I arranged to have a fairly simple drum machine mod done there
- I also asked all sorts of questions in my original e-mails every
single one of which was ignored except to e-mail back "the price for X
is..." or snipy comments like "CV outs do you mean trigger outs?"
(quite a contrast from Bob Williams who spent weeks helping me :)
- they said they'd send the unit back as soon as the payment had
cleared. A week or two later having heard nothing I phoned and he said
"I sent you two e-mails to say we were waiting for some knobs to come
in" (e-mails I hadn't received) & they weren't sure when the work
would be done
- then out of the blue one monday morning I get an e-mail saying
"...should be with you in about 48 hours. ensure package can be
received. If you are not in to receive a delivery, and your package is
returned to us, you will have to pay for re-delivery. Ensure someone
is in to receive your order!" which I found a tad rude, personally.
I've had a lot of gear delivered over the year & it's my first
experience of someone not checking a suitable date before dispatch.
Especially as they were on an indefinite delay before that.
- 48 hours actually meant it would arrive on my wife's birthday when
we had a day off/out planned so it caused a fair amount of grief when
it still hadn't arrived by the afternoon (56 hours later)
- I phoned and got the delivery company details. When I spoke to them
I found that they had actually tried to deliver the day before (when I
was in) but not only had they been given the wrong address but they
had my name down as "Crank" rather than Grant so when they asked my
neighbours they wouldn't sign for it as we usually do for each other
- finally having arranged redelivery and patched over my marriage
(always a bit more tricky than analogue modular stuff ;) I got the
drum machine back and I have to admit that despite all the grief it
sounds pretty good and the work seems to have been done well enough

There's always the chance that this catalogue of systematic customer
abuse is a result of them taking an instant disliking to me personally
 English 'service' is like that. It may also be temperatuure related
(this all happened during the recent heatwave). But to be honest if it
was the last place on earth - and for much of their drum related stuff
it actually is - I wouldn't even consider buying from them again.

Well I feel much better now!!!
 
Sorry to anyone who actually bothered to read through this far but I
thought that the perhaps great things about user forums is you can
occasionally share bad experiences as well as good. (There's a theory
in cognitive science that gossip was invented to protect the group
from individuals who did not play by the rules...)

ps arnauld - since you enjoyed the MS50 patch book so much (and who
wouldn't with patches like "dive bomb"!) if you give me your snail
