The most obvious is using a VC switch to switch between "sections" of a sequence. With 2 8 step sequencers you have 4 section of 4 beats. With clock dividers and VC switches you can easily create long sequences with repeating and cycling motifs. Another idea would be to clock your sequencers at different rates to get odd timing, syncopation, hocketing, triplets, etc. You can also get a 16 step sequence from a single 8 step sequencer with two rows of CV. Just use a VC switch to switch between the rows on every cycle. more is better etc,etc,etc...
