Not that it changes anything, but if I remember correctly, a 8500
does not include 200's - that case is an add on - a separate
entity. Also, one does not nessesarily need two sequencers for
16 steps - you can create a single 16 step bank by using a
RS150 Sequential Switch as well - you just toggle between two
of the existing three sequencer banks on the 200 on step 8.
Regardless...two sequencers are terrific and I applaude Bob for
incuding the two as a single option. Their benefits are up to the
user of course and what kind of work they do.
I've got three. Not 200's, but three sequencers. Sometimes i
use one to transpose the other through a CV mixer, again using
one stage gate outs to advance the second sequencer so that
the 'master;' sequencer is offset high or low from the second.
Another interesting trick was used a lot by Mort Subotnick before
the Buchla 200 was released and before there was such a thing
a VC control of direction -- that is running two sequencers
against each other, one with less steps as the other, both being
drvien by the same clock. It;s right out of Paul HIndemith's theory
bookand allows for unpredictablke sequences when the voltage
of those two are summed, again through a CV mixer.
With a quantizer, it s a breeze to set up so that all of these
combinations of the (for instance 2 steps against 3) will yeild
valid musical information.
There are a billion possibilites of two units. If you can afford
them, I highly recommend it.
hope this helps,
Peter
