I can confirm that Asystems and Doepfer use different screws, in case confirmation was necessary. :-)

I had an idea which may go some way to solving the problems

It should be possible with an accurate bench drill and a blatant 
disregard for warranties to add an extra pair of holes to any module so 
that it will butt up to any other module - then any gap will be at the 
end and can be 'patched' with a home made 'multiple'

Oh, and while I'm at it the Doepfer racks and the AS racks seem to use 
different sizes of screws
